Another Road Trip, Another Show!

Oh, I love summer for so many reasons, but sitting in the evening in an open air theatre, watching the stars come out as the show goes on, is one of my very favorite.

For years, I have been meaning to attend a performance at the Caravan Farm Theatre, in Armstrong, British Columbia.

Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwich Bars

I have five pots of gleaming, ruby red freezer jam sitting on the window sill, and am feeling exceedingly proud of myself.

I have smashed and compounded peak-of-the-season fruit from last year, and my inspiration to make them was because I needed the freezer space for this year’s incoming strawberry bounty, already jockeying for position, as I strong-arm the lid down on our smallish freezer. [Read more…]

Fancy Pants Chocolate Bars

I think it was looking at, salivating over and finally tasting those wonderful chocolate bars at The Chocolate Tree, in Edinburgh, that made me want to try creating my own.

Perfectly tempered, glossy but unassuming on one side, when flipped over, they are a pretty picture of jewel-like fruits and roasted nuts.  It must be confessed, the idea of placing these items on the chocolate, rather than suffering again through my late, ham-fisted attempts at enrobing, really strikes my fancy, this week.
